Summer Walks in Thredbo
There are a variety of exciting and adventurous walks to suit what ever your fitness level. Take in the magic views from the rooftop of Australia, discover the unique wildlife as you make your way along the Thredbo River, or discover the inner workings of Thredbo itself.
There are guided tours available from Thredbo Sports, however, if you choose to head out without a guide be sure and take a topographical map and compass and that you know how to use them.
Some of the self guided walks available are:
Thredbo self-guided Ecology Walk (pdf 384Kb)
Learn how rare species of plants and animals survive in an alpine environment. This walk starts from the top of the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift and weaves along the mountainside, criss crossing Merritts Creek all the way to the village.

Other Walks around the Village
These walks begin at Valley Terminal and are relatively easy, allowing you to explore the riverside and foot hills of the Ramshead Range. FREE Maps are available at Thredbo Sports.
Riverside (Golf course) Walk - 1 to 1.5 hours
A relaxed walk along the Thredbo River and around the Thredbo Golf Course. Spend some time at dusk sitting on a rock beside the river and you just might see a platypus at play.
Meadows Nature Trail - 1 to 2 hours
Taking in open meadows, Alpine Ash forest and Merritts Creek this is a beautiful and varied walk.
Bridle Loop Trail - 1 hour
Overlooking the Thredbo River and the village infrastructure, you will follow the old horse riding trail.
Pipeline Path - 1 hour
This track runs along the Thredbo River towards Friday Flat and gives excellent access to secluded fishing and bathing spots.
